Second batch of “Crystal” styled text. I really enjoyed thinking about light refraction in this design and how characters would light up with a back-light and crystal like formation highlighted by the streamer. The feedback was enough to really consider how light might behave when falling on an an obsolescent material.

Kumiho Streamer Logo V2.0 Art Deco
I recently viewed a Lynda video following the work of Doyald Young, a logotype designer specialising in the area of pencil drawn calligraphy. The documentary touched on some of his work including the redraw of the Prudential logotype (below). Fine adjustments made to character tracking I.e. The distance bettween letters improve upon readability and give a new zest to the way the wordmark is read (from left to right) this can also be aligned with brand and tone of voice to give better coherence throughout a company both internally and externally, a brand is more often than not, the greatest and most valuable asset of any company.
I was asked to conceptualise a logo for a recruitment and training startup based locally, here in London.
Having read the brief, I wanted to create a simple yet effective brandmark that would constitute a trustworthy, reliable style that would lend itself well to an app icon for the future development of the business. I chose Orbitron as the logotype as it met the criteria for the brand and melded well with the brandmark when I placed them proportionally next to each other.
The overlaid shapes are all in exact ratios to each other according to the golden ratio (1:1.61803398875). I also added the drop shadow to differentiate the two main shapes and give some depth/dimension to the brandmark.
